A Growth Rate That's Slowing, Not Accelerating

Anthropic's revenue climbed from roughly $4.7-4.8 billion in Q1 2026 to about $11.6 billion in Q2 and $16.8 billion in Q3[2], a trajectory investors are celebrating as proof of enterprise demand for Claude. But the 45% sequential growth rate is actually a deceleration from the pace Anthropic posted earlier in 2026, and it fell short of some investors' expectations that the company would be tracking toward a $110 billion annualized run rate by year-end[3]. SemiAnalysis, an independent research firm, nudged its own annualized estimate up to roughly $74 billion from a prior $65 billion[4]- above Anthropic's own implied Q3 run rate of about $67.2 billion[2], but still well below the triple-digit run rate some had modeled. The gap matters because Anthropic and its bankers are using the revenue trajectory, not current profit, to justify a valuation near $2 trillion; a visibly slowing growth curve undercuts the multiple being pitched to IPO investors.
